FAQs
What is the difference between Coaching and Consulting?
In consulting the consultant solves problems, gives there client advise and tells them
what to do. None of that happens in coaching. Consultants are typically experts in
some topic like marketing, business and the coach is simple an expert in the coaching
technique. In a coaching relationship, the cleint is the expert in their own lives. The
coach is an expert in coaching technique but not the clients life, therefore the coach
does not slove problems, give advise or tell the cleint what to do. The coach using skills
including but not limited to asking powerful questions, articulating what is going on, and
championing to help the client solve their own problems.
What is the Difference between Therapy and Coaching?
While in many ways coaching may seem similar to therapy it is fundamentally different.
Therapy is based on a medical model that asserts there is something wrong with the
patient and that thing that is wrong needs to be fixed. Coaching is based off the
assertion that the client is perfectly creative, resourceful and whole and capable of
solving their own problems. Because of this fundamental belief a coach will help their
client to dig deep and come up with solutions from within the can fit perfectly in their life.
One other primary difference is in coaching you and your coach will look at your present
circumstances and explore what you want for the future. Therapy may often do this as
well but therapy will also look back into your past to try and figure out what went wrong
or how past events may have led you to your current situation. Because coaching does
not look into the past it can sometimes feel like a faster and more energetic process.
Unlike therapists, coaches are not trained to diagnose nor are the able to prescribe
medications. Many people, including myself find in beneficial to work with both a
therapist and a coach.
What is the structure of a coaching package?
Sometimes in a coaching session a client will have a breakthrough discovery or
realization that can catapult them forward towards living their dream life. Most of the
time however, the impact of coaching unfolds over time as small discoveries and
accomplishments move the client towards living the life they want and being the person
they want to be. Changing your life means being both committed to and invested in that
change. That is why I offer coaching in packages as opposed to single coaching
sessions. When you begin a coaching package we will work on clarifying what brings
you to coaching and what you want to get out of the coaching. Sometimes people will
come to coaching to achieve one desire and through the coaching process discover that
there is something else that they want to look at first. Sometimes the focus of the coaching my shift as things come up in the clients life. It is always up to the client’s
discretion, what they want to be coached on that day. We will also create a designed
alliance (see more about designed alliances below) that is outline how we will work
together. Most individual coaching sessions end with the client being given an activity
that will reinforce the learning of the coaching session, or have the client dig deeper into
the topic, or take a step in moving towards their goals. At the beginning of each
coaching session we will review how this activity went and what the client learnt from it.
Much of the learning and growth that happens as a result of working with a coach
happens in between coaching sessions when the client has time to marinate in what
happened in the coaching session.
What is a Designed Alliance?
Designed alliance is all about creating a safe and courageous space so both the coach
and cleint can lean in fully to the relationship and take chances and allow themselves to
be vulnerable and fully athentic. This is crucial because if either coach or cleint is not
comfertable bringing themselves to the coaching in full the relationship as a whole will
suffer and the coaching relationship (not the coach) is what brings value to the client.
The coach lets the client know what they need and expect from them in order to
do thier job most effectivly. Designed alliance is the clients opportunity to both
state and request what they need in order to feel safe. Things that are typically
covered in designed alliance in clude confidentiallity, structure of coaching calls,
type of langauage that will be used/not be used (profanities…), premission to
speak hard truths and designing what will happen if the coach pushes the client
too fast… One important aspect of the designed alliance is that it never is
complete. As the coaching relationship evolves its important to periodically
come back to the designed alliance and check in to see if anything needs to be
redesigned. If a conflict or dissonance is ever created in the coaching
relationship, that too is a great time to come back to designed alliance and see if
anything needs to be redesigned.
How do I get started?
For a coaching relationship to work you need to find a coach with which you resonate,
and feel excited about working with. So to get started working with any coach the best
thing to do is a sample session. If possible do sample sessions with a few different
coaches to experience different styles. You will intuitively know which style and coach
is for you. You can sign up for a sample session with me through this website. At the
end of your sample session I will give you something to be accountable for based on
our sample coaching. A week after the sample session we will check on how the
accountability went and decide if we are a good match to work together as coach and
client.
What is a Mental Health & Mindset Coach
A Mental Health & Mindset Coach helps you shift the way you think, feel, and experience life by combining practical mindset tools with supportive, body-aware approaches. This means we don’t just “talk about” your challenges — we also explore how they show up in your emotions, daily patterns, and energy, so you can release what’s holding you back and create real change. I am trained in advanced listening techniques, which means our sessions are a space where you will feel deeply heard, understood, and supported as you move toward your goals.
What happens in the initial 100-minute intake session
The intake session is where we lay the foundation for our work together. While storytelling is not traditionally part of a coaching model, I’ve found through years of experience that having the space to tell your story can be profoundly beneficial. This is your opportunity to share what you’ve been carrying, get things off your chest, and release some of the weight that has been holding you back — all in a safe and supportive space where you feel truly seen and heard.
During this session, we’ll also clarify your goals, identify the areas you most want to focus on, and introduce key tools and concepts to guide your journey. Many clients describe this session as both relieving and empowering, as it allows them to move beyond the weight of the past while stepping into a fresh perspective.
How do I know which package is right for me?
Each package is designed to meet different levels of support and commitment, and you can choose the one that best fits your goals, lifestyle, and budget. If you’d like something that isn’t listed on the site, you’re welcome to email me with your request — and if possible, I’ll create a custom package tailored to your needs.
For clients who prefer longer sessions, there’s also the option of combining 2 or even 3 sessions into one extended block (for example, turning two 50-minute sessions into a 100-minute session, or three into a 150-minute session). This flexibility allows you to go deeper in a single sitting while still staying within the framework of your package.
Can I book a single session without a package
Single sessions are only available in addition to, or following, the completion of a package. This is because every package begins with a 100-minute intake session, which is essential for laying the foundation of our work together. The intake gives you the chance to share your story, clarify your goals, and establish the key tools and concepts that will guide your coaching journey.
While clients often experience profound insights and breakthroughs in a single session, lasting transformation usually requires consistent commitment. The most impactful changes happen over time — and many of the greatest breakthroughs occur in the space between coaching sessions, as you begin applying new tools and perspectives to your life. This is why all clients begin with a package: it provides the structure and support necessary to create meaningful, lasting change.
Do you offer online sessions or only in person
All coaching sessions are offered online, which allows me to work with clients wherever they are in the world. Meeting virtually creates flexibility and accessibility, while still providing the same level of depth, connection, and support as in-person sessions. Clients often find that being in their own space helps them feel more comfortable opening up and integrating the work into their daily lives.
For clients in or near Calgary, you’re welcome to meet me in person at my downtown office. Paid street parking is available, and the office is also easily accessible by LRT. For clients interested in coaching intensives, we can meet at my downtown office or at a mutually agreed-upon public location within 30 minutes of the city limits.
What if I can’t afford the full package price
I believe that mental health support should be accessible, which is why I offer sliding scale options for clients who may not be able to pay the full package price. If cost is a concern, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know your situation. Together, we can explore a reduced-rate option that makes coaching possible while still honoring the value of the work. My priority is to ensure you get the support you need in a way that feels sustainable for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that clients give at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a session. This respects both our time and keeps the schedule flowing smoothly. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, that appointment will simply be applied toward your package. I do understand that true emergencies happen, and in those rare cases, we can discuss the best way to move forward.
Consistency and showing up fully are key to transformation, so honoring your scheduled sessions is an important part of the coaching process.
Why don’t you offer sample sessions?
In my experience, sample sessions often feel inauthentic. The potential client is usually split between participating in the session and analyzing whether coaching is right for them, while the coach is caught between genuinely coaching and trying to sell their services. That dynamic prevents the true connection and complete focus on the client that is required for powerful coaching. My role isn’t to convince anyone to work with me — my joy comes from supporting those who are already fully committed to their growth.
Beginning the coaching relationship with a full intake session and package creates the clarity, commitment, and structure needed to do this work in a meaningful way. It signals that you are ready to fully engage, rather than “trying it out,” and it allows us to begin from a place of depth and focus. From a Kabbalistic perspective, any sincere effort made toward growth moves you closer to your goals. Even if someone begins with a shorter package and later decides not to continue, the act of committing and showing up still carries real benefit — bringing them one step nearer to the lasting change they are seeking.
